8.1 Niche Sharing Platforms

  • Read about the issues around Location-based Social Media.
  • Visit a few of the Intranet SoMe platforms and compare their features (and the usability of their websites) on Networking Employees with Social Media.
  • If your company or organization uses a social media Intranet, share (if you can) on What is your Intranet used for?

8.2 The Law and Social Media

  • Watch the videos on Copyright and the Internet (this will take a while). If you wish to learn more, check out free books by Lawrence Lessig also available from this page.
  • Read the blog series by Manishin from 2010 for an overview of the Law and Social Media, then watch the more recent video by Jeffrey Floyd (2013) for an update to today's issues and more recent legal issues on The Law of Social Media.

8.3 Corporate Policies

  • Read the articles related to whether employees can be fired for using social media and watch the videos on Employment Law and Social Media.
  • Read several of the corporate social media policies linked to in the Discussion: Social Media Policies

8.4 International Issues and Social Media

  • Watch the video and read the articles about a few of the international issues related to social media on Censorship and Social Media.
  • If you see a resource or story related to international issues in social media, please share it in the Discussion: International Nuances.
