W9.1 Google+

Google+

About one year ago, demographics information (reported by Mashable Links to an external site.) about Google+ showed that it was dominated by men, early adopters, engineers, and developers. it is a platform where 50% of the users are less than 24. Not much new data about demographics has been published since then, but if Pinterest is clearly a female-oriented platform, then Google+ is the platform for males with computer-oriented careers.

Keep in mind that Google+ borrowed many of its features and organization from its predecessors: Google Buzz and Google Wave (neither of which is still in use today). This makes a lot of potential users nervous. Who wants to make a hefty social media investment of time and energy in a site that might just disappear? However, Google probably has a master plan, and with the release of Google Glass Links to an external site. later this year, it's likely that Google+ will become more tempting if Google doesn't allow sharing of data (video, audio, images) with your default social networks. Some food for thought.
