LinkedIn is a business-oriented professional social network. Consider it a cross between your online resume and a rolodex that connects you to people you know professionally. Here are some resources to help you understand how LinkedIn is being used in recruiting and job-seeking. If you haven't applied for a job lately, you might have missed the transition in the employment world, i.e. the "Apply with LinkedIn" button.

1. If you don't have a LinkedIn profile created, it's probably time to do it. If you already have one, take a look at it and make sure it's up-to-date and does a good job of representing your talents.

 

2. Make sure the you link to your LinkedIn profile from other sites where you have a presence (your company web presence, Google+, Twitter, etc. The URL for a publicly viewable LinkedIn page looks something like this: http://www.linkedin.com/in/mariahandersen Links to an external site.

 

3. Consider joining a LinkedIn Group on some topic just to explore this feature. Search the Groups Directory here. Links to an external site.
