Formative Evaluation: What is it?
Formative Evaluation: Overview
Formative versus Summative Evaluation
As defined in the figure above, formative evaluation is conducted for the purposes of revising and improving instruction as it is being created. It is part of the design and development process. This is in contrast to summative evaluation that is part of the WIPPEA framework that focuses on the assessment of the extent to which the lesson objectives were achieved at the end of the course.
