3. Learn about the Introduction to Psychology Course
Prerequisites: You need to be comfortable using a web browser and the Internet. You may access portions of this course through a mobile device (tablet/smartphone), however the course is designed to be accessed from a web browser (desktop/laptop).
College Credit vs. Badge: You have two options for credit in this course. You may either enroll for 4 hours of undergraduate credit through Keene State College or receive a certificate of completion from the instrutor. Both credit and certificate students who achieve a 75% or better are eligible to earn a Course Badge issued through the Mozilla Openbadges.org. For more information about the credit options, an "audit option" and how your grade is calculated see Course Credit Options.
Costs:
Badge seeking students: All the course materials are open resources which can be accessed through this Canvas site. Optionally, you may choose to purchase. You will need reliable Internet access and a computer.
Undergraduate Credit Students: Keene State College students and ANYONE is welcome to enroll through the Keene State College Continuing Education Office to receive 4 credits upon satisfactory completion of this course. See the Course Credit Options page for more information and costs.
Time Expectation: This course is designed as a undergraduate level, full semester, introductory psychology course. This online course will be offered in an accelerated six week format. To complete all the readings, videos, and activities in this course will take approximately 10 - 15 hours a week. To learn more about how your grade is computed see Notes on Points and Grades.

Instructor Responsibilities: Consider us your tour guide for Intro to Psychology. There are a large number of students in this course, and it will help everyone if you post questions in the Discussions area whenever possible. If you send one of us a private message, we will attempt to respond to messages within 48 hours on weekdays. Kat will monitor posts and comment in the Discussions. Larry and Mike will skim Discussions, and comment when there there is something interesting to add. Every week we will provide guidance about the week's topics through the Announcements area. You will get regular feedback on your individual ideas and activities from your classmates.
Student Responsibilities: Announcements will be very important for keeping you on track - make sure that you have opted to receive announcements immediately or daily in the Notification Preferences. Each week, you should plan to do the following:
- Complete the readings and videos assigned for the topic area.
- Complete assigned activities (discussions, quizzes, and assignments).
Code of Conduct: Canvas Network has a Code of Conduct that you agreed to when you signed up for the course. We will discuss some sensitive topics in this course. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and all participants in this course must be civil in all course communications.
