Send To Kindle
Hey MOOC-ers!
So maybe some of you are a bit more hip than I am in the technology department, but yesterday I figured out how to send documents to my Kindle so I can follow along with the Stangor readings while on the go. I have a second generation Kindle, but I assume the process will be similar for most other versions. I’m not sure for other e-readers though. Here’s a walk through:
- Download the text from the MOOC website. This can be found on the first page of each module. Be sure to click the “Download Chapter 1 Readings” in the upper left corner if you access each text section individually.
- Visit: http://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle Links to an external site. where you will find different options for how to send documents.
I followed both the desktop and the email option.
3. Desktop:
- Download the “Send to Kindle” app (available for Mac and PC)
- After download, make sure your Kindle is connected to the same Wi-Fi as your computer
- Open the app and simply drag the document you previously downloaded into the box that says “Drop Files Here”
- Wait patiently for a few minutes while your document does its thing
- Read!
4. Email:
- After you’ve logged into your Amazon account, find your Kindle email under the “Manage Your Devices” section
- Compose a new email in whatever mail service you use (Gmail, Yahoo, school email, etc.)
- Copy and paste the Kindle email into the “To” box
- Attach the previously downloaded document in the email
- Send!
- Wait patiently for a few minutes while your document does its thing
- Read!
So there you have it fellow MOOC-ers and Kindle friends. If these steps don’t work for you, give me a shout and I’ll do my best to help you get those documents to your Kindle. It’s been extremely convenient to have the readings on a larger screen than the iPhone and bring them along with me as I start my summer adventures, I highly recommend it. Happy reading!
