7.2 Evernote

Evernote is sort of like a giant virtual filing cabinet that is easily searchable and let’s you quickly save everything from meeting notes to entire Webpages, including images. This can be useful for you or students to collect research materials, create a portfolio of work or easily keep track of class note, to name just a few potential uses. Like with social bookmarking, you can add tags to your individual notes in Evernote, but you can also put them in to folders. The search capabilities in Evernote make it very easy to find what you have captured, including words from images and PDFs.

When we get to the section of the course on ePortfolios, you may wish to consider using Evernote for this purpose.

For the Google Hangout this week, Heather and Ryan will be talking about how they use Evernote and social bookmarking tools for their teaching and learning. A discussion forum has been set up where you can post your questions for Heather and Ryan, but you can also tweet questions using the course hashtag #ilt_usask Links to an external site..

The following three very brief videos from the Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching at Iowa State Links to an external site. will provide you with an introduction to using Evernote.
