7.1 Social Bookmarking
In this module we’re looking at some ways of collecting resources that you find online. Social bookmarking allows you to easily bookmark Websites, share what you find with others (or keep them private) and access your bookmarks anywhere. This can be very useful when you have multiple devices or want to share resources with others without sending a constant stream of emails.
We will look at one specific tool for this, Diigo Links to an external site., but there are others out there, including Delicious Links to an external site..
You can “tag” your bookmarks (think of it as adding a keyword to the description to make it easy to find all of your bookmarks related to, something like “assessment”) to share with students or colleagues. You can create a tag just for a particular course and have students use it to share resources with each other. The GMCTE has a Diigo group that allows all of the members of our staff to share bookmarks easily with each other and the public. You can find our group’s bookmarks here Links to an external site..
