Course Tag: #LAK13
LAK13 is an open online course (meaning no fee and you're free to participate as you find most helpful). To be successful in this course, we estimate that you will need to spend between 5 and 10 hours per week involved in discussions, readings, and live lectures. However, the structure of the course is such that you can set your own standards of success and participation. For example, if you are not interested in working with analytics tools (starting week 3), you will spend significantly less time on the course. If you are fairly new to analytics tools, but would like to learn, you may find that it will take more time for you to get comfortable with the tools and methods of analytics.
You will not be marked or graded in this course. Learning activities are suggested each week. These activities are intended for you to develop your understanding of learning analytics methods and processes. The feedback that you receive will come from peers and instructors.
What to Expect:
Each week (Sunday evening), we will open the readings and resources for the upcoming week. Weekly resources will include readings, learning activities, discussions, and guest speakers.
Live lectures by guest speakers will be hosted weekly and will be recorded if you are unable to attend. The course has discussion forums set up each week. We also encourage you to blog, tweet, and select communities or groups that are most relevant for you to learn. If you create a group in Facebook or Google+, feel free to announce it to others in the Canvas forums and invite them to join.
A key aspect of this course is your involvement and contribution. The design of this course emphasizes your involvement through creating artifacts that reflect your learning process. Create images, blog posts, videos, concept maps... What you create becomes valuable for others as they make sense of the course content.
