Parallelism and Euclidean Geometry Introduction

In this lesson, we will review those geometry concepts that you will need for the CSET examination. But what is geometry? Geometry is the mathematical discipline that involves the study of shapes and space.

The word "geometry" is of Greek origin. It means earth or land measure. Geometers study the properties of objects (their angles and surfaces, for instance) and discern patterns and structure, and by doing so, help make sense of the physical world. By studying elementary, or Euclidean, geometry, most students get their first experience with formal logic, an essential component of mathematics and critical thinking.
