- Points None
Select one essay or video or podcast from any one of this course's text or media selections that is connected in some way with your own life or ideas.
In a 4-5 page paper (minimum 1,000 words), use the reading to "frame" an exploration of your own experience. Then submit your draft below.
Special Note: You will not submit this to the Peer Review Forum yet. You have some time to polish it using your own critical reading skills before you share it with others. Make sure you check the next module for instructions on Peer Review for the Reader-Response Essay. Here are some helpful pointers for writing a reader-response essay that incorporates personal experience:
1. Plan this essay using an outline. Select portions of the text/media that speak to your own experiences, thoughts, and reactions and use them to extend or support what you write. Remember: You and the text are in conversation with one another.
2. Avoid being general in your assertions. Make sure you address specific parts of the text that speak to you and your experiences.
3. Integrate references to the text throughout your essay.
