Welcome

When first rolling out blended/personalized learning in your classroom or school you have to think about three key components: the classroom space, routines, and culture. This course will explain each part and then introduce you to concrete strategies being used to implement blended effectively around the nation.

Goals

  • The teacher will identify strategies around both routines and culture to implement in their own blended roll out
  • The teacher will design (or fine-tune) a plan to build an effective physical space for implementing blended

As stated on the Home page, when beginning this course:

  • Find your personalized path- When beginning BL-102, first explore the course and objectives for each session to identify your own personalized path to the content. The course was built in 4 separate sessions so that each user can access the material at their own personal ability, experience, and interest level. Feel free to work straight through or jump around as needed.
  • Approach the material asynchronously- Though the professor will not be checking your progress, you can still engage with others completing the course through discussion forums and quick quizzes. This will give you the ability to reflect on your own learning, as well as reach out to others to ask questions, share advice, and push your own thinking.

Prerequisites

The only prerequisite for BL-102 is that you have a firm understanding of the theory behind blended/personalized learning and the basics of what it looks like in practice.

NOTE: If this is your first time exploring blended/personalized learning, you should start with BL-101: Beginning to Blend before moving into BL-102.

Completion

To be successful in this course:

  • Plan to spend approximately 5-7 hours working on this course.
  • Take your time, participate in all discussion forums, and complete each reflection section to help evaluate your progression.

Badging/Certification:

  • We're not providing badges or certification for completion at this time, but feel free to check with your district or school to see if they are able to give credit upon completion.
