DIY: Informational Handout
- Due No Due Date
- Points 0
Choose a teaching/learning unit that you deploy in one of your most commonly-taught courses and compose a one-page handout including the basic terminology and concepts that you'd like students to internalize.
An example could be an introduction to rhetorical appeals, in which you would provide definitions of ethos, pathos, and logos, along with diagrams and examples. Don't steal this content. You know it well enough, surely, especially since you've taught it for years now. Remember that the concept of "rhetorical appeals" can't be copyrighted, but the wording of any definitions or examples can. Hammer out your definitions and brainstorm a few examples of each. Draw (using a pen or applicable software) the diagram yourself. Then arrange the items using word processing software and include your license. Save the document in as open a format as you can.
You're done. You've created an open handout.
