Universal Design
Before we begin learning about Universal Design for Learning (UDL), it's important to understand how UDL evolved. Universal Design for Learning is about reducing barriers in the learning environment, Universal Design inspired the idea for UDL and applies to physical spaces and products.
The goal of Universal Design is to create spaces and products that are as usable as possible to the greatest number of people despite their differences.
To learn more about Universal Design, and the origin of Universal Design for Learning, please view this video interview with Eric Dolph from SUNY Buffalo State (1:58).
