Grading Policy

Achievements vs. Gradesachievement tokens: three circles, blue, orange and white, with cc symbol at center

There are no formal grades in this course. While you will receive scores on individual quizzes and assessments that indicate your understanding of that particular content, you will not receive a final grade. Rather, you will receive a token of achievement for each successfully completed assignment.

Each week you will have the opportunity to earn an achievement for successfully completing the required learning activities for that week (read more on the next page).  This achievement will be rewarded for meeting certain requirements, which might include earning a passing score on a quiz or peer reviewed assignment, and will signify your understanding of the content for that week.

Rubrics

Rubrics are used to evaluate each assessment activity, and also to outline the learning objectives for the assignment. You should refer to the assignment rubrics to guide you as you work though each learning activity.rubric.png

Peer Review

After you submit an assignment you will be asked to review the work of two of your peers. You will use the assignment rubric to evaluate your peers on each of the required components and to provide any relevant feedback. Your peers will also be reviewing your work.

The peer reviews are a critical component of this course, as teaching and learning from your peers is an important part of being a metaliterate learner. Please give the reviews careful consideration. The peer reviews are a required part of your assessment. You must complete the required two peer reviews per week in order to earn the Digital Citizen badge.

The instructors will be checking the peer reviews for quality and fairness. Therefore you will not see your score or achievement for an assignment until an instructor has approved the peer reviews for that assignment.

For additional help with peer reviews please refer to the following Canvas guides:
