Course Technology Requirements
To control and manage your learning artifacts over the long term, you're going to need some technology tools. Specifically, for this course you’ll need (1) a blog, (2) a Twitter account, (3) a Delicious account, and (4) a YouTube account.
- You are required to have a blog for this class. You can use any blog service that you like; I especially love WordPress Links to an external site.. - I strongly encourage you to regularly use Twitter for this class. This is your primary way for having real-time or near real-time conversations with me and your peers. Simply tweet questions, comments, and other class-relevant content with the hashtag #ioe13 Links to an external site.. Whenever you complete a new blog entry, post a link on your twitter account with the hashtag #ioe13. If you already have a Twitter account, use it. - Throughout the course I'll be asking you to find additional online resources relating to course topics. When you find these resources, bookmark them on Delicious and tag them ioe13 Links to an external site. and the assignment-specific tag. If you don't have a Delicious account, it's easy to join Links to an external site..
- Some course assignments are video assignments – like your introduction video. If you don’t already have a YouTube account, grab one now Links to an external site.. After you’ve created your account and logged in, you can create videos from your webcam with one click Links to an external site..
- Optionally, you may want to also grab a Flickr Links to an external site. account. This will be useful for sharing any sorts of drawings, photos, or other visuals you develop for the course. There are plenty of Flickr tutorials Links to an external site. to get you started, too.
