Module 4 Activity: Digital Collections Directory

This activity is designed to get you to identify those digital collections that will be useful to you in your research. Different digital collections offer different kinds of digitized items, including many that are useful to genealogy researchers. By completing the form embedded below, you will contribute to a crowd-sourced directory of digital collections useful to genealogists that can help everyone in the course find the best collections online.

Instructions:

  • Using a web search engine, locate one digital collection that you think might be useful for your research, or browse the website of a state or local repository to see if they also have a digital collection.
  • In the form below, list all relevant information about that collection. Try to be as accurate as possible, but don't feel like you have to provide detail on every question--a submission with basic info is more useful than no submission at all!
  • If you would like to contribute information about more than one collection, select "Submit another response" after you submit your first response. You can do this as many times as you like.
  • To view the directory, click the link below. You can sort the directory alphabetically by selecting the drop-down arrow in the top row of each column.
  • Please be respectful of the community.
