Module 1 Badges

Electronic Badges are a way to recognize your participation in professional development activities.  You may collect them and display them in your signature line or Social Media sites as a way to represent your interests and accomplishments.  You will have an opportunity to earn one (1) badge for each of the six (6) modules that you successfully complete, and if you earn all six (6) badges you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.

There are activities that you must complete to earn a badge.  The requirements for each module are listed below, and specific instructions will be available within each module.

Module 1

An Emerging Future Badge will be awarded for the completion of the following:

  1. Posting a reply to the question posed in the Emerging Future Discussion thread on the main MOOC Discussion Board. (Title of discussion thread)
  2. Joining a Tech Crowd
  3. OPTIONAL: Posting a response to the Discussion Board in your Homeroom to generate a smaller group discussion.

Module 2

A Technology Trends Badge will be awarded for the completion of the following:

  1. Posting a reply to the Technology Trends Discussion

Module 3

A Think Like a Futurist Badge will be awarded for the following:

  1. A posting and two responses to both Discussion Topics:
    1. Futuring Processes and Methods
    2. Notable Futurists, AND
  2. Completing the Think Like a Futurist Quiz (passing grade of 70%)

Module 4

A Future of Connectivity Badge will be awarded for completion of the following:

  1. Posting an entry to the Future of Connectivity Discussion thread
  2. Taking a Future of Connectivity Quiz which will test your knowledge of the information contained in this module.
  3. OPTIONAL: Submitting an entry to the METIS Web Content Repository

Module 5

A Cybersecurity and Big Data Badge will be awarded for the completion of the following:

  1. A posting in the Cybersecurity Discussion
  2. A posting in the Big Data Discussion
  3. Completing a Cybersecurity/Big Data Quiz (passing grade of 70%)

Module 6

An Imaginarium Badge will be awarded for the completion of the following:

  1. Posting a message to the Discussion Board that explores and discusses possible future scenarios of technology issues and trends that might impact the emerging future.
  2. Submission to the Assignment Folder of an infographic (or other type of digital format) that focuses on one aspect of the technology issues and trends that may impact the emerging future.
