Welcome to a short, introductory module on Work Integrated Learning, commonly referred to as WIL.
Let’s begin by asking two big questions:
- what is WIL, and why embed it into the student learning experience?
- what does WIL look like in practice?
This module is situated in an Australian context and is primarily focused on universities and institutions of Technical and Further Education (TAFE), but it is also applicable to other institutions of higher learning and other countries and regions.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module, you should be able to:
- define WIL and explain the benefits to all stakeholders; and
- design an authentic and meaningful WIL learning activity and assessment.
You’ll gain the most from this module if you:
- do the reading;
- watch the videos;
- reflect on your own experiences and understanding;
- share your thoughts; and
- read the discussion board contributions by your peers.
It's estimated that the basic outline of this module might take approximately two hours, however there are options to delve a little deeper and dip into additional optional resources if you wish.
