Professor Birgit Loch & Associate Professor Katherine Seaton, La Trobe University

Associate Professor Katherine Seaton is Associate Professor and Department Coordinator of Teaching and Learning within the College of Science, Health and Engineering at La Trobe University. She is the Course Coordinator for the Bachelor of Science/Master of Teaching. Among other service to the university, Katherine has served as School Director of Teaching and Learning (2009-2011), Chair of the Faculty OSP Committee (2008-2011) and has been the Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering representative on the University Appeals Committee (formerly APRC) (2007-2012, 2014-current). Her outreach activities include school visits, presentations at the Mathematical Association of Victoria and Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers conferences, and work for the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority related to senior secondary mathematics. Katherine is a member of the Australian Mathematical Society (Women in Maths, Mathematics Education and ANZAMP Special Interest Groups), Mathematical Association of Victoria. Her research interests include solvable models in statistical mechanics and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. She has also been involved in some joint publications in statistical methods.
