Consider the desired learning outcomes for your students and the learning context in which you are working: student cohorts, discipline and topics addressed, as well as physical and virtual learning environment.

In this context:

  • what understandings of education inform your approach?
  • what learning theories might be pertinent?
  • what learning activities might be appropriate?
  • what does that indicate about your role and the teaching strategies you might adopt?
  • in regards to dynamics, how do you/will you evaluate and review your approach and strategies employed?

For an example of how these questions have been answered by others, refer back to Ashworth et al. (2004) [pdf, 1.26MB] Links to an external site.. You may also like to refer to Biggs’ (1996) model of teaching Links to an external site..
