Associate Professor Julie Fleming, CQUniversity & Associate Professor Kogi Naidoo, Charles Sturt University
Associate Professor Julie Fleming leads the team of Educational Developers in Learning and Teaching Services at CQUniversity. She has a background in multimedia, online technologies, curriculum design and development with a focus on distance education. Her thesis unpacked the need for academic professional development specifically relating to transition from face-to-face teaching into online learning and teaching. With the majority of universities extensively using the online environment for their learning and teaching, Julie is passionate about the area of online learning. Julie works with, coaches and mentors many staff from across diverse disciplines, with the main aim to improve learning and teaching to enhance student learning outcomes for CQUniversity.
Associate Professor Kogi Naidoo is HERDSA Fellow and Principal Fellow of AdvanceHE (previously known as the Higher Education Academy), and Director of the Learning Academy at Charles Sturt University, playing a strategic role in enhancing teaching, assessment practices, and academic staff reward and recognition. Kogi has extensive experience in academic staff development, research support and quality assurance in South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. She led a New Zealand national project investigating the impact of academic development interventions on first year students. Kogi’s research interests include a focus on self-evaluation programs in academic development and quality assurance. She has numerous awards and fellowships, including the South African Junior Technikon Fellowship, the Ernest Oppenheimer Gold Medal and the South African Association for Research and Development in Higher Education (SAARDHE) Young Achiever Award. Kogi has published widely and is the author of Working Women: Stories of Struggle, Strife and Survival (2010) and Live, Learn, Love: The Path to Your Prowess (2012).
