This module will introduce you to:

  • the concept of the scholarly teaching, and compare it with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning;
  • the importance of being a scholarly teacher;
  • some ideas for how to get started;
  • types of evidence that you can collect to evaluate your teaching; and
  • some useful resources, including lists of learning and teaching journals and conferences.  

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module, we expect you to be aware of:

  1. what is involved in taking a scholarly approach to your teaching, and how it relates to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning;
  2. how to engage in peer review of your teaching and the teaching of others;
  3. different strategies for evaluating your teaching and your students' learning;
  4. what evidence can be used to demonstrate the impact of your teaching; and
  5. who in your institution will support you to become a scholarly teacher.

Note that some colleagues who completed this module took more than two hours to do so, and some took less. At the end of the module there is a quick quiz that you can do.
