We asked some teachers how they were feeling about teaching their first class. The image below captures their thoughts.

reflect.png Activity 1. How are you?

How are you feeling? Nervous or unsure or excited? Consider the following statements. Take some time to reflect on them and decide how you feel before moving on to the next activity.

  • I’m looking forward to meeting my students.
  • I’m really excited about the unit that I have planned.
  • I’m not sure how I am going to work in the Learning Management System.
  • I’m confident that I can answer questions about the general content of the unit and how it will be taught.
  • I can tell the students how best to get in touch with me if they have questions.
  • I know where the classroom is, and I am comfortable about the way the room is set up.
  • I’m worried that all the students will sit up the back of the classroom.
  • I’m worried about learning the names of my students.
  • I’m not sure what my students already know, and how much background to give them.
  • I’m concerned that my students will ask me questions about the course or the university that I don't know the answers to.
