Submit: Overview

The "Submit" tab within Open Author is where you will make your final entries before your publish your educational resource to OER Commons. As shown in the figure below, the "Submit" tab focuses on your copyright license choices. Please note that Open Author will license your resource under a Creative Commons license. However, to ensure the broadest use of your work, we request that you make your selections to align with a Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license. The details of how people can use your work through your license choices are described below.

1. License: Allow Modifications

The "Allow Modifications" selection confirms how others are able to create derivative works based on your resource. As noted in the help feature, "Examples of derivative works are translations, adapting the resources for different age group or student population, and adding additional content. Your original resources not affected. Other users will be able to make copy that they can edit as they see fit. This is called "remixing". The most open option to select is "yes", which aligns with the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license (Links to an external site.). 2. License: Allow Commercial Uses

The "Allow Commercial Uses" selection confirms how others are able to use your work for commercial purposes, such as including your work in a textbook sold for profit. The most open option to select is "yes", which aligns with the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license Links to an external site.. 3. License: Jurisdiction
