Orientation Week Reading: Three optional stories
This week we present three stories. You are not required to read them, but we think you will enjoy them!
Reading is great practice for your vocabulary and grammar skills, and reading can give you examples for your own story.
Story #1: "Cock a Doodle Don't" by Char Heitman (503 words)
In this story, roosters are not allowed in the city, but one of the chickens might be a rooster! Read to find out what the family will do.
Story #2: "Swamp Sneakers" by Marty Wilder (887 words)
In this story, a boy runs through a swamp to protect his brothers and sisters. He can’t protect his shoes, though. What will his mother say?
Story #3: "To Build a Fire" by Jack London (1335 words)
In this story, a man and a dog travel together in very cold conditions. Things don’t end well for the man!
