 Overview of Labour

This course is made up of six units. An introduction to the Western is included in the first unit. Each unit offers two short lectures about the Western featured that week, and one or more reading(s) are also included. As well, there may also be a related video about the film, the Western genre, or American history provided for those interested in acquiring more information. After you have enjoyed the film, listened to the lectures, and read the materials provided online, each unit will require you to answer a short quiz and share your insights about the movie in a post. Your posts will be read by other students in the course. You will have more opportunities to discuss your ideas about the Western in the discussion forums.

Posting

Your post on each film's blog will be no less than 100 and no more than 300 words in length. The topic of each short paper will be announced in each unit. Your aim is to enrich the viewing and thinking of an intelligent, attentive fellow participant in the course.  You can read other participants' posts and comment on them.

Participants should feel encouraged to post questions and ideas there and to respond to one other. You should check the discussion forum occasionally and contribute responses whenever you like.

I will be monitoring the forum and in some cases will reply or post a supplementary video clip. The purpose of the forum is to deepen your knowledge on your own and via conversation with others.
