Winchester '73 (1950)
This feature film was director Anthony Mann's first Western and a box office smash. Dubbed the first psychological Western, Winchester '73 ushered in a series of "adult" Westerns in the 1950s. Jimmy Stewart credited this film with saving his career. Stewart was named the winner of the third annual Reno Silver Spurs award for his part in Winchester '73, the film was named best film, and Anthony Mann was named best director.
