Week 3
Fort Apache (1948)
Shot in infrared, this unusual feature film offers viewers a scathing version of The Last Stand. Released in 1948, Fort Apache provided Argosy Productions with a bankroll that enabled John Ford to begin producing and directing his own films. Henry Fonda, John Wayne, and Shirley Temple drew the crowds at the box office when this movie was released; Ford's oblique critique of George Custer makes this movie a must-see today.
