Taking Action to Provide Equal Learning Opportunities
In this week, you will explore how Universal Design for Learning is implemented in real-life scenarios relevant to your learning environments. You will also be introduced to Backward Design and examine how it fits into the bigger picture of Universal Design for Learning and accessibility. The content for this week will allow you to reflect on how you can use these principles and methods to provide equal learning opportunities to your learners.

Course Competencies
- With accessibility in mind, utilize the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in designing learning experiences
- Analyze the benefits of Backward Design when developing learning experiences
Learning Objective
At the end of this week participants will be able to:
- Reflect on how Backward Design, accessibility and UDL complement each other when designing learning experiences.
Learning Activities and Assessment
This week we have approximately 2 of hours learning activities including content that you can read, watch, and/or listen to, as well as a discussion forum. You can also participate via social media using the hashtag #accessmooc and posting on the Facebook page. You can certainly spend much more time exploring the various websites and resources if you choose to do so, but we have designed the course so that the quiz can be completed from exploring the content we created for the week.
The primary activities are:
- Short readings
- Videos
- Discussions
- Practice quizzes
The assessment for this week is a quiz. Successful completion with a 80% or higher is required to earn the Week 4: Taking Action badge.
