A Blueprint for Equal Learning Opportunities

In Week 3, you will be introduced to Universal Design for Learning (UDL). You will engage in topics such as Universal Design as used in architecture, as well as Universal Design for Learning, which includes the Affective, Recognition, and Strategic Networks. This week's content and activities will help you to design a learning environment that is flexible and allows for equal learning opportunities.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this week participants will be able to:

  • Analyze the ways the Affective Learning Networks impact motivation and participation in learning
  • Analyze the ways the Recognition Learning Networks impact how students make sense of presented information.
  • Analyze the ways the Strategic Learning Networks impact how students demonstrate mastery of learning

Learning Activities and Assessment

This week we have approximately 2 of hours learning activities including content that you can read, watch, and/or listen to, as well as a discussion forum. You can also participate via social media using the hashtag #accessmooc and posting on the Facebook page. You can certainly spend much more time exploring the various websites and resources if you choose to do so, but we have designed the course so that the quiz can be completed from exploring the content we created for the week.

The primary activities are:

  • Short readings
  • Videos
  • Discussion
  • Practice quizzes

The assessment for this week is a quiz. Successful completion with a 80% or higher is required to earn the Week 3: Creating the Blueprint badge.
