A systems-level view will help you find high-impact places to intervene. In this activity, you will use "The 5 Whys Links to an external site." to help yourself apply systems thinking to your project idea. Use the 5 Why's for your project idea and post to the discussion forum in a format similar to the example below.
Here is an example:
Start with a problem: We aren't doing enough about climate change. (Yours can be more specific)
Why #1: Why aren't we doing enough about climate change? Answer: The problem feels too big.
Why #2: Why does the problem feel too big? Answer: Because no single person, company, or nation can solve it.
Why #3: Why can no single person solve it? Answer: Distributed effort is required.
Why #4: Why is distributed effort required? Answer. To generate multiple solutions.
Why #5: Why are multiple solutions needed? Answer: To satisfy the different needs in a range of unique scenarios and locations.
